Accessories for wedding hair - fresh flowers

Messy wedding hair with flowers

The big day is fast approaching. You've chosen your wedding dress, shoes and flowers, but what will you wear in your hair?

Having worked with brides for well over a decade now, I've seen some bridal fashions come and go but deciding what to wear in your hair can still be daunting for some brides. Many people are very certain of how they would like their bridal hair but sometimes it can be just as important to find the right accessory, especially if you are wearing a veil as well.

I will be chatting about the range of different wedding hair accessory options over the next few weeks and giving advice on which ones work best with certain hair styles. Today I will be talking about fresh flowers.

This is my all time favourite accessory for wedding hair. Depending on the natural volume of your hair, you could have very pretty, delicate flowers, or if you have a lot of hair, you could have some bigger blooms, such as roses.

Flower crowns have been really popular in recent years too but if you wanted something more subtle, you could ask the florist to provide individual small flowers which I can then decorate into a horseshoe shape. Gypsophila, wax flowers and other tiny blooms can be put together to create impact or delicately scattered around a hair style for a pretty look. I've also worked with brides who have used lavender and rosemary for scented hair decoration… lovely!

Fresh flowers can be used to decorate buns, chignons, plaits, braids, up do's and hair down. They are extremely versatile and can tie in a colour theme or work with your bouquet. Perfect for weddings at anytime of year but particularly good for country spring, summer and autumn weddings.
