Elegant Spring wedding at Pennard House, Somerset

Wedding at Pennard House in Somerset

I was overjoyed and honoured to be asked to do Saskia's bridal hair and makeup for her spring wedding at Pennard House in Somerset.

I first met Saskia and her Mum earlier in the year for her bridal hair and makeup trial. Saskia is very beautiful so we designed a light and natural makeup with a classic feel to compliment her personal style.

I used a Chanel foundation (Perfection Lumiere) with medium coverage and set the makeup with a little Bobbi Brown translucent powder for a matt finish and extra staying power. Clinique eyeshadow and eyeliner gave Saskia's eyes a subtle smokey look and Clinique "Defining Roses' blush gave warmth and a natural glow to the cheeks, which I applied high on the cheek bones. We went for a bold lip colour to compliment Saskia's dark hair and tie in with the overall colour scheme of the wedding. The lipstick was 'Twig' by Mac. Saskia chose warm berry tones for her bouquet, bridesmaid dresses and her bespoke hair accessory, which tied the look together beautifully.

I styled Saskia's hair using a large barrel wand to create a soft wave on her naturally thick, dark hair. We wanted to keep the look relaxed so left tendrils around the face and decorated with a exquisite beaded comb at the back, which was handmade by a family friend.

At the trial I created a few variations on the hair style for Saskia to choose from but we decided that this was the perfect look for the wedding.

I really enjoyed the hair and makeup trial and wedding day, and it was great to design a classic makeup look which really suited Saskia's natural elegance and relaxed style.

Bridesmaid with Gypsophila flower crown

The bridal suite of Pennard House is the perfect place to get ready for the wedding day. As soon as you walk in you feel at home, and its a beautiful large and light filled room with 3 Georgian windows which make it perfect for applying makeup in and getting into the wedding dress. Saskia had 2 wonderful bridesmaids, Emily and Evie, who also got ready in the bridal suite.

I created a half up half down hair style for bridesmaid Emily and decorated with delicate sprigs of white Gypsophila, which stood out against her naturally dark hair. Emily had a gorgeous tan so we designed a fresh, bronzed makeup with smokey eyes and a nude lip colour. Emily wore a fabulous raspberry colour dress which looked stunning against her tanned skin.

I spotted young Evie early on the wedding day and must admit I was very excited to get my hands on her hair! Naturally blond, wild and curly..... all I needed to do was to separate and tong the curls to create perfect ringlets which were then dressed with a Gypsophila flower crown and silk ribbon. The quintessential flower girl or young bridesmaid hairstyle!

With the sun shining and everyone ready for an exceptionally special day, it was time for me to say my farewells and wish the bride and bridal party a fantastic wedding day.
