It’s a dream for many brides to get married in the beautiful Cotswold countryside. The honey coloured houses and gentle rolling hills make this a dream wedding destination for couples. Having grown up in Gloucestershire, on the edge of the Cotswolds, I deeply resonate with this desire and have a deep connection to the landscape I call home. Not only is it one the prettiest counties, it has an array of incredible wedding venues to get married in.

I’ve created some beautiful hair and makeup looks over the years, for brides getting married at these fabulous Cotswold wedding venues.

Elmore Court is a beautiful 13th Century stately home with magnificent views of the Cotswolds and River Severn. It’s a magical place in both the summer and winter. The first bridal hair and makeup I did there was in December, just before Christmas and I was enchanted immediately. My lovely bride had picked the most incredible day to get married as the lawns were sparkling with frost beneath a crisp blue sky. Upon entering the enormous wood panelled hallway was huge Christmas tree creating the most magical entrance. I won’t ever forget my first wedding at Elmore Court.

 

The Matara Centre, located in Tetbury in the Cotswolds, is another incredible place to get married, and one that’s unique style feels very aligned with many of my brides. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working at this beautiful Cotswold wedding venue to create beautiful hair and makeup designs for many bridal parties. My gorgeous brides have often wanted a more unusual and perhaps unconventional vibe to their hair and makeup look, which is reflected in this wedding venue’s beautiful bohemian style. The location itself is a large, relaxed country house in the Cotswolds. Architecturally it has beautiful proportions, which you immediately notice as you walk through the front door and enter this arty but elegant space. The gardens are also enchanting, and many brides and grooms choose this venue for its magical outdoor space,  which is perfect for the wedding ceremony. The bridal suite is a fantastically large and light filled space with stunning antique furniture and oil paintings adorning the walls. It’s a really special place to do bridal hair styling and makeup.

 

Owlpen Manor is a stunning Cotswold wedding venue, situated in a private valley in Stroud. The surrounding countryside is and the Manor itself has such a magical atmosphere it really is an enchanting place to get married. I grew up very close by, but hadn’t been to this incredible wedding venue until I became a hair stylist and makeup artist. I have to say, it’s really one of the loveliest things about my job, helping brides to create their dream bridal hair and makeup in the most incredible settings! The history of Owlpen Manor dates back many, many centuries and it’s definitely worth reading all about it on their wedding website. If you love historic buildings, set in the beautiful Cotswold countryside, this really would be an enchanting place to get married.

 

Hilles House is an enchanting and bohemian wedding venue set on the edge of the Cotswolds, near the historic town of Painswick. I have been to this magnificent wedding venue many times and it’s never lost its charm. With a laidback and friendly atmosphere, one feels instantly at home here. The house itself feels much older than it actually is, and the rooms and gardens are so photogenic, it makes it hard not to fall in love with such a magical place. I know I did! I can’t wait to visit again and create more beautiful hair and makeup looks in such a unique Cotswold wedding venue.

FAQs FROM BRIDES

My wedding is in the Cotswolds. Do I need to come to you for the hair and makeup trial?

I normally suggest coming to me for the hair and makeup trial. This is because I have a dedicated space, set up for trials, and often have additional kit that is sometimes required. However, I will travel to your Cotswold wedding venue on the big day, so you can relax knowing that I will be there in plenty of time and everything will run smoothly. 

 

Our wedding is in the Cotswolds and we are getting ready at home. Can you travel to our home and set up there? What do you need for the wedding morning?

I am very happy to travel to your home in the Cotswolds on the morning of the wedding. If a table and chair can be provided to work on, that is fantastic. I also need an electrical socket and some natural daylight as well. I bring a makeup mirror with me.

 

We have booked Elmore Court for our wedding. Can you travel to the venue on the morning of the wedding?
