Fliss contacted me last year as she was looking for a bridal hairstylist and makeup artist for her summer wedding in June, and I was delighted to be part of her amazing day.
She visited me earlier in the year, on a rainy day in Spring for her hair and makeup trial. Fliss had really clear ideas about the look she wanted to create on the wedding day and had decided that a bun with soft tendrils around her face was the best option for her… and I agreed!
Fliss has amazing hair, and to be honest, would suit any hairstyle, but her dress was very modern and looked absolutely stunning with the up do she had decided on.
At the bridal hair and makeup trial we played around with different heights and shapes for the bun until we found the perfect position for it. Fliss had a delicate pearl hair decoration made by Hermione Harbutt, which nestled beautifully into the hairstyle I created for her.
Working with Fliss to design her bridal makeup look was an absolute dream. I took a before and after pictures, and you can see the subtle yet glamorous transformation. Fliss has perfect skin so it was easy to create the flawless look.

I used a Nars foundation and set it with a Laura Mercier translucent powder. Fliss has perfect eyebrows so I simply combed them into shape and sprayed them with a little spray on a mascara wand. I used a champagne/oyster tone eyeshadow with my favourite Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner to add definition and intensity to her dark eyes.
I added some lash clusters just on the outer edge of the eyes to create a subtle and glamorous effect. I used a light veil of bronzer all over to add warmth to her naturally pale skin and added a pop of pink on the apples of her cheeks to make her skin really glow.
For Fliss’s lips, I used a fabulous bright coral lipstick by Mac, but unfortunately they have discontinued that exact colour. Don’t you hate it when they do that?! It was an amazing bright coral shade with a hint of pink and was one of my favourite bridal lipstick colours. It added just the right amount of colour and freshness for a summer wedding and was a very popular choice for many of my lovely brides.
As I drove to Chew Magna, near Bath, on the morning of the summer wedding, there was torrential rain but I was hopeful the sun would make an appearance… and it did! It was a gorgeous sunny afternoon and evening. Fliss and her new husband Rich had the most wonderful wedding reception held at The Pony in Chew Magna.
